The Brookings Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization established in Brookings, South Dakota, in 1977.
The Brookings Foundation was formed to attract and distribute gifts of capital to charitable agencies for the betterment of our community. It represents cooperative investment and administration of gifts and bequests from many donors who together have substantial, constructive community impact.
The Brookings Foundation encourages philanthropy at all levels, provides donor services and responds to the ever-changing needs and opportunities in the Brookings area. The Brookings Foundation supports health and human service organizations, youth programs, education, cultural events and the arts, as well as environmental and recreational endeavors.
The Brookings Foundation holds numerous component funds that have been established by individuals and organizations. There are nearly as many different funds at the Foundation as there are donors, since each fund may be customized to meet a particular charitable goal. Donors may choose from a variety of funds when making a gift to the Foundation.
Donors may use a variety of assets to make gifts including appreciated stock, real estate, and cash. They may give to any of the existing specialty funds or create their own named fund.
The Brookings Foundation:

invests its funds wisely.
helps insure local non-profit and charitable organizations operate efficiently.
The Brookings Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who represent the Brookings community and area. Our Board members are: Dan Beinhorn, President, Darcie Bien, Victoria Blatchford, Erik Dahl, Jeff Lee, Marj Thompson, and Joyce Wrage. Kurt Osborne serves as the Brookings Foundation Director.
